Jayden Daniels has emerged as a legitimate candidate for the Heisman Trophy, and Saturday’s performance against Florida just added to his resume.

The LSU quarterback had 372 passing yards, 234 rushing yards and 5 total touchdowns. He joined Johnny Manziel as the only other quarterback in SEC history to notched 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in a game.

After a huge touchdown late in the game, Daniels struck the signature Heisman pose on the sideline with his teammates, playing into the hype he’s garnished over the past few weeks.

After the game, Daniels was asked how he approaches the Heisman hype, and he offered a humble answer.

“That’s what you gotta do,” Daniels said after the game. “You gotta control what you can control, and one thing I can control is how I approach each and every week, how I practice and how I play. From there, I can’t make those decisions.”

Daniels has notched 3,164 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns on the year to go along with 918 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. It won’t be a surprise to anyone to see Daniels on the stage in New York in December.
