Jizzle James could be headed to the Southeastern Conference. His final three schools in contention ahead of his commitment are LSU, Georgia and Cincinnati.

James, out of Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida, is the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2023 class and holds offers from other prestigious programs, including Ole Miss, Florida, Georgetown, NC State and Providence.

The son of former NFL star Edgerrin James recently caught up with 247Sports on the programs he’s narrowed his decision down to. With Georgia, a lot of it comes down to relationships and impressions of the general environment.

“On the visit it just felt like a home environment,” James said. “The culture was great, the staff, the visit went well. It just felt like a place that I could call it home. They check a lot of boxes I like and am looking for in a school. It was a great experience and I have a great relationship with the staff. We have been talking ever since like halfway through my junior year so the bond is great.”

He also sees a lot of upside in joining a program like LSU.

“I have been talking to coach ‘Ham’ [Ronnie Hamilton] for a long time, that’s my guy,” James said. “When he made the switch to LSU, he started recruiting me and I found out that the new LSU coaches were Ja Morant’s coaches and that made it more special. That’s where I want to be at – the NBA level. To get to the league, that coach has that mindset and knows what it would take for me to get there and that’s why I think LSU would be a great fit too.”

James is expected to reach a decision in early November.
