LSU QB Joe Burrow has exceeded expectations in his short career so far with the Tigers. The Ohio State transfer is the reigning SEC Offensive Player of the Week, and statistically is having one of the best seasons of any quarterback around.

Against Ole Miss last week in a 45-16 win, he set career-highs in every major offensive category. Burrow passed for three touchdowns and rushed for one as the Tigers registered season-highs for points (45) and total offense (573).

For the season, Burrow is 70-for-131 passing with six touchdowns and no interceptions. In an on-campus interview posted by the LSU football program’s Twitter account, Burrow shared his thoughts on the strong start.

“I feel like I’ve been getting better every week,” he said. “That comes with chemistry, comes with more opportunities, and I think we’re going to keep getting better.

Burrow noted that the offense has had plenty of new faces, including a new offensive coordinator, and five different starting lineups along the offensive line. LSU has three receivers with at least 10 catches each, and two more with at least seven catches.

“So I think we’re starting to get a feel for things the first couple of games and I think we’re really clicking now,” he said. “… We have a lot of playmakers. I’m going to keep doing my best to get the ball in their hands.

“We’re starting to get the hang of things, at the beginning we were a little rusty. (We’re) still getting the feel for each other, but now I think we’re going to start to take off.”
