Kayshon Boutte will miss this week’s game against New Mexico because of the birth of his child, Brian Kelly announced on Thursday at his radio show. Boutte will be excused, and hours after Kelly’s announcement, the star wide receiver announced the birth of a boy on Instagram.

a day to remember, Beyond blessed ?? words can’t describe how i feel right now. Wasn’t nervous at all, if anything i been ready for you to be here. Its been a long 9 months waiting but you finally here lil man. You are what i needed in my life. Glad i finally get to meet you, We love you ❤️??

Boutte has 10 catches for 93 yards through 3 games as he has struggled to be more involved in the offseason. He appeared visibly after LSU’s season-opening loss to Florida State, and that came after he had a bit of a slow start getting to know Kelly.

Kelly was asked at SEC Media Days about building trust with Boutte, and he said it’s a two-way street.

“We’re building trust,” Kelly said in July. “As you know, Kayshon was just awarded No. 7 which we consider a program number that highlights the very best player, in particular from the state of Louisiana. That has to happen when trust has been formed.”
