Kayshon Boutte was arrested this week on charges related to illegal online gaming. The former LSU receiver is accused of placing nearly 9,000 illegal wagers — two of which were related to his own performance in a game against Florida State in September of 2022.

According to the arrest warrant, obtained by WAFB’s Scottie Hunter, Boutte is alleged to have placed one bet that he would personally score at least one touchdown in the FSU game and another bet that he would have more than 82.5 receiving yards. Both were part of an eight-leg parlay.

He caught two passes for 20 yards in the game — a one-point LSU loss.

According to the arrest warrant, Boutte created a FanDuel account using a fake name and funded the account using his mother’s credit card. During 2022 and 2023, Boutte allegedly wagered just shy of $451,000 and won more than $385,000 in 2022, indicating gambling losses of more than $65,000. In 2023, he allegedly wagered roughly $186,000 and won $170,000, indicating losses of around $16,000.

While placing bets, Boutte used accounts with the username “kayshonboutte7” and “kayshonboutte01,” according to the warrant

In a statement from the school, LSU claimed it was made aware of allegations in July of 2023 and “fully cooperated” with the relevant authorities throughout the investigation. LSU claims there has not been any evidence to suggest other student-athletes were involved.

Boutte was a sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in five games as a rookie, bringing in two of his seven targets for 19 yards.

He signed a  four-year, $4.03 million contract with the Patriots in May 2023.
