As a freshman in 2018-19, LSU G Javonte Smart had some great moments on the court for the Tigers and some controversial moments off it.

He was potentially the player mentioned in a federal wiretap that caught coach Will Wade allegedly mentioning an offer to pay a player. Smart was suspended for the final game of the regular season, too.

After the year ended, Smart declared for the 2019 NBA Draft, but it appears he’ll return to LSU for his sophomore season instead:

Smart appeared in 34 games as a freshman, starting 18 of those contests. He averaged 11.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

He’ll be relied on more as a sophomore, so we’ll see if he can boost his draft stock this coming season.
