LSU didn’t have a perfect regular season by any means, but Brian Kelly leaned on players like CJ Daniels throughout the fall.
And while Kelly recently said he believes many of his key players from this season will be back next year, it doesn’t appear that Daniels will be one of them. According to his representation, the wide receiver is planning on entering the transfer portal for a shot somewhere else in 2025.

Daniels is a senior but will have 1 year of eligibility remaining. After an 8-4 regular season that had a lot of good — and a whole lot of not so good — LSU was depending on having guys like Daniels back so 2025 could end with the Playoff berth this season will be without.
But the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Daniels has apparently decided that he wants to test the portal to see who’s interested. Daniels had 42 catches for 480 yards this season for the Tigers after transferring from Liberty.
During his college career that began way back in 2020, Daniels has piled up 148 receptions for 2,434 yards and 21 touchdowns. Daniels had his best season in 2023 at Liberty, compiling 55 catches for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns. He then announced in January that he was heading to LSU.
Now, almost a year later, it appears Daniels will be on the move again to play for his 3rd program in 3 years.
