Leonard Fournette is interested in returning to LSU in a new role.
The former running back said this week that he’d like to succeed Frank Wilson as LSU’s running backs coach when Wilson departs that role.
When coach frank Wilson decides to step away from LSU, I’ll be the first to try to be the running backs coach of the program……

Wilson is in his second stint as LSU’s running backs coach. He re-joined the program in 2022 after previously serving as head coach at UTSA and McNeese State. Prior to those head coaching opportunities, Wilson was LSU”s RB coach from 2010-15.
Wilson recruited Fournette to LSU and was his position coach for his first 2 seasons on campus. That includes Fournette’s legendary 2015 season, which saw him rush for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns in just 12 games. That still stands as the best single-season rushing total in LSU history.
Fournette does not have any formal coaching experience at the collegiate level. He last played in the NFL in 2023.
LSU is 5-1 so far in 2024. The Tigers will be looking to pick up another win this weekend against Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night in Fayetteville.
