Sure, we all know the ending of the story.

LSU hired Kevin Steele to replace John Chavis as its defensive coordinator for the 2015 season.

But Chavis’ ongoing court battle with his former school revealed some interesting information about the search for his replacement.

According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, information revealed as part of the case showed that LSU coach Les Miles considered up to 25 coaches to be Chavis’ replacement.

The names on the list included current South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp, former Auburn coach Gene Chizik, former Vanderbilt (and current Penn State) defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, Oklahoma’s Mike Stoops, Wisconsin’s Dave Aranda and Georgia Tech’s Ted Roof.

Dellenger also reports that Miles spoke with former Georgia defensive coordinators Jeremy Pruitt and Todd Grantham, as well as Clemson’s Brent Venables.

Airing all of this out in public doesn’t seem like a good thing for these coaches, but it sure is interesting to know the depth of the search that Miles underwent following Chavis’ departure.
