Derrius Guice is certainly one of the best backs in the country, but he did not have quite the season many were expecting from the LSU star.

Guice’s numbers were down across the board in 2017 despite registering more touches. In 2016, Guice put on quite a show alongside RB Leonard Fournette. Guice ran for 1,387 yards, 15 TDs, and averaged 7.6 YPC for the Tigers that year.

It was an impressive showing but proved hard to top. Unfortunately, injuries hampered Guice throughout 2017 and led to a decrease in numbers across the board. He finished the season with 1,153 yards rushing, 11 TDs, and 5.3 YPC in 11 games.

In a recent Instagram post, Guice said he pushed through a knee injury that he sustained in camp leading up to the season. He did say he is now 100% healthy but wishes he could have put up a stronger season with LSU.

Here is a look at his post where he also says that he will not have a decision on whether to stay at LSU or leave early for the NFL draft until after the bowl game:

LSU will be participating in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. The Tigers will be taking on Notre Dame with kickoff set for 1 pm EST on ABC.
