Surprising news out of Baton Rouge Thursday as LSU has announced the dismissal of sophomore nose guard Travonte Valentine due to a violation of team rules.

The school has issued the following statement regarding Valentine’s dismissal.

“At this point in time, Travonte is no longer part of our football program,” head coach Ed Orgeron said. “We wish him the best.”

Valentine was responsible for 10 tackles early in the season but failed to make an appearance in any of the final seven games of the season. Valentine was a 2014 U.S. Army All-American coming out of high school but following a redshirt season in 2014, was forced to leave LSU for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Valentine finally made his way back to LSU just before the start of the 2016 season.
