LSU will get the crowd fired up Saturday night when the Tigers introduce the reigning Butkus Award winner who made countless plays in Tiger Stadium.

Devin White is set to be a guest captain when LSU opens the season against Georgia Southern.

“On Saturday, I’ll have a new perspective as a fan and cannot wait to see my boys play and represent LSU,” he said in a statement released by the school. “I’m excited to watch their dreams come true. It’s one of the greatest feelings ever.”

White, who was taken fifth overall in the NFL Draft in the spring by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was named the 2018 Team MVP.

White was LSU’s first winner of the Butkus Award as college football’s top linebacker in 2018. He also earned consensus All-America status in 2018 after he collected honors from Walter Camp, the Associated Press, Sporting News and American Football Coaches Association.

White played in 38 games for LSU, with 25 starts. He had 286 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. He was also responsible for nine turnovers.
