LSU baseball has already suffered a major blow days before the start of the 2023 season. RHP Grant Taylor, a projected weekend starter for the Tigers and a top prospect in the upcoming MLB Draft, is expected to miss the entirety of the 2023 season with a UCL injury.

Kendall Rogers, who first reported the news, also reported that Taylor intends to stay on for the Tigers in 2024 following recovery.

This news comes just days after top Arkansas prospect RHP Jaxon Wiggins went down with an injury that will also keep him out the entirety of the season.

The Tigers are the undisputed No. 1 team in baseball heading into 2023. Taylor was likely to be LSU’s Sunday starter or potentially closer, though LSU will have plenty or arms to choose from in his stead.

Paul Skenes, Ty Floyd, Christian Little and Thatcher Hurd will all be jockeying for a starting roles in the coming weeks. LSU begins play this Friday against Western Michigan.
