According to one member of the LSU Board of Supervisors, Les Miles’ coaching is “something that needs to be looked at.”

In an interview with The Advertiser, Board of Supervisors member Ronald Anderson said that regardless of how well LSU plays the rest of the season, Miles’ performance this year needs to be evaluated.

“I think if he wins the next two games, it’s still something that needs to be looked at,” Anderson said. “It’s the way they lost the two games.”

LSU started the season 7-0 and climbed as high as No. 2 in the College Football Playoff ranking. But the Tigers lost 30-16 to Alabama (which is currently No. 2 in the CFP rankings) on Nov. 7, then followed that up with a 31-14 loss to Arkansas last Saturday. It was the first time since 1999 that LSU had lost back-to-back games by 10 or more points.

However, Anderson also admitted that a strong finish could make it hard to push Miles out the door. LSU (7-2) travels to Ole Miss (7-3), then plays Texas A&M on Nov. 28.

“If he wins them both, that complicates it,” Anderson said. “That’s my opinion. It’s not just the number of losses, but the quality of the losses. The next two games are really important to deciding the future of the program. And you’ve got to look at the progress of the program from the standpoint of a number of years.”

Anderson, who is a cattle farmer, did not say whether or not he believes LSU needs a new coach.

Miles has a 110-31 record since becoming LSU’s head coach in 2005. His overall coaching record is 138-52. He has won two SEC Championships and one national championship with the Tigers. He is averaging 10 wins a season, something very few current coaches in college football have done.

Since the loss to Arkansas, a number of media reports have speculated that Miles could be on the hot seat. No one at LSU has commented on Miles’ job security.
