LSU cancels Media and Fan Day due to massive rain, flooding
LSU has cancelled Sunday’s Media and Fan Day because of historic flooding in the Baton Rouge area and most of South Louisiana, according to Associate Athletic Director/SID Michael Bonnette.
“Safety is our primary concern right now,” LSU Vice-Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said in a statement. “Unfortunately, with all of the high water, flooding and continued rain, there is no way that we can put people in harm’s way so we have no choice but to cancel this event.”
Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency as the National Weather Service projects 80-90 percent chance of rain through the day Saturday and 70 percent on Sunday. LSU’s campus has been closed for today, at the very least.

#LSU cancels Media Day, Fan Day. Both were scheduled for tomorrow. By far the worst flooding I've ever seen in Baton Rouge. Y'all be safe.

Fan day was scheduled for 3:30-6:30 p.m. at LSU’s basketball practice facility, the Maddox Field House and the PMAC. It will not be rescheduled, but LSU is working on a plan to distribute the football schedule placards, posters as well as the complimentary Geaux Clear bags, which were both going to be handed out on Sunday.
LSU moved its first scrimmage of preseason camp Saturday from Tiger Stadium to the indoor facility because of the saturated field and pouring rain.
