LSU didn’t slide far in the College Football Playoff rankings, dropping to No. 17 following a disappointing 20-13 overtime loss to Alabama. The Tigers (7-3, 3-3) were ranked 16th a week ago. Alabama held steady at No. 5 in the rankings.

The committee is clearly putting an emphasis on losses; two of LSU’s three defeats this season have come at the hands of teams that were then ranked in the top five (Auburn and Alabama), while their other loss came to current No. 1 Mississippi State, which was unranked at the time.

LSU is currently ranked No. 20 in both the coaches and AP polls. This weekend, the Tigers travel to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks (4-5, 0-5).
