LSU defense puts up 6 sacks in scrimmage, but QBs deliver big numbers
The LSU quarterbacks put up solid numbers in the Tigers’ second preseason scrimmage on Saturday, but the defense also had its moments.
Coach Ed Orgeron told reporters that QB Joe Burrow was 14-for-24 for 116 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 2 sacks. Myles Brennan contributed 13-for-25 for 260 yards, with a long of 56 yards, but was sacked 3 times. Overall, the defense had 6 sacks in the scrimmage.
Orgeron noted that the offense did much better as Burrow returned to action after he missed the first scrimmage with a “minor” injury. The offense had a big day, especially in the first half, and Orgeron said that Burrow also scored on a two-minute drive to win the scrimmage in overtime.
“When the offensive line was intact, they were winning the line of scrimmage,” Orgeron said. “We moved the ball. We got after the defense today. Controlled at least the first half the scrimmage, defense controlled second half and offense won the two-minute drill.”
