LSU made a major addition to its 2024 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers picked up a commitment from 4-star wide receiver Jelani Watkins. He chose LSU over programs such as Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska, amongst others.

Watkins is a huge pickup for LSU. He’s the No. 176 overall player and the No. 26 wide receiver in the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 32 player from the state of Texas.
Watkins attends Klein Forest High School and is from Houston, Texas. He’s listed at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds.
He initially picked up his offer from LSU back in April of 2022. He took an official visit to Baton Rouge before making this decision.
LSU now has 22 commits in the class of 2024, including 3 from wide receivers. The group sits at No. 11 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
