LSU football player Trey’Dez Green is contributing to his school in more ways than one.
The freshman tight end is also on the basketball team and finally made his debut on Saturday against Alabama. Green checked in for the first time this season about 8 minutes into the game. So far, the two-sport athlete has collected 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 block. At the break, LSU and Alabama are all tied up at 40 points a piece with the Tigers looking to pull a massive road upset.
For the football team in 2024, Green caught 13 passes for 101 yards and 4 touchdowns. The former highly-touted prospect is expected to take on a larger role with the football team in 2025 as fellow TE Mason Taylor recently declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Green’s debut on the hardwood provided one emphatic highlight as his first bucket came off a block with a high-flying fastbreak jam. That’s one way to announce your arrival.
Before arriving in Baton Rouge, the 247Sports Composite ranking rated Green as a 4-star prospect, the No. 1 TE, and the No. 2 prospect out of Louisiana in the 2024 recruiting class. Green chose LSU over offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Michigan State, and other schools, both as a basketball and football player.
The Tigers’ basketball team is likely just looking for any spark they can get. The team has lost 4 of its last 5 games and currently sit near the bottom of the SEC standings.
At halftime on Saturday, the Tigers and Crimson Tide are tied at 40. It will be interesting to see if Green sees the court again in the 2nd half and if the talented athlete can make an impact.
