With their season not unfolding the way they planned, LSU’s veteran leaders stepped up on Monday and pulled their teammates together for a players-only meeting. Two seniors, left tackle La’el Collins, who has been the best player on the offense, and running back Terrence Magee, who is wearing No. 18 this season, were the players who organized the meeting following LSU’s worst loss under Les Miles, a 41-7 drubbing at the hands of Auburn.

Following Monday’s practice, the two seniors pulled the entire team together, minus coaches and staff members. A few younger players spoke to the media after practice, giving a glimpse into what transpired behind closed doors.

“We tried to tell everyone to stick together and that we have a lot to play for. The season is long, and anything can happen,” said sophomore cornerback Tre’Davious White.

White added that multiple players from both sides of the ball spoke during the meeting, and the general feeling is that the team wants to still make good on this season.

“We are just going to try to finish this thing strong,” Beckwith said. “We will just keep pushing and not get down on ourselves. Finish strong.”

LSU has a tough road ahead. They play at Florida and host Kentucky, two unranked teams, their next two games. After that, LSU finishes the season with three of their last four games against teams currently ranked in the top 15 in the nation: Ole Miss, Alabama and Texas A&M. The fourth game is against Arkansas, whose strong running game will likely cause problems for the Tigers.
