Following an embarrassing 41-7 loss to Auburn, the worst loss of Les Miles’ tenure at LSU, the Tigers have dropped out of both the AP and coaches polls. This marks the first time since 2008 that LSU has been unranked in both polls. LSU was ranked no. 15 in both polls coming into the Auburn game.

Back in 2008, LSU climbed as high as No. 4 after a 4-0 start, but a 3-4 stretch dropped them out of the rankings by week 11 of that year, following a loss to unranked Mississippi. This year, LSU worked their way into the top 10 before getting soundly beaten by both Mississippi State and Auburn in two of the last three weeks. At 0-2 in the SEC, LSU could be looking at its first losing record in the conference since that disappointing 2008 season.

LSU travels to face fellow unranked SEC team Florida this weekend, with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff in Gainesville. This year is the first since 1999 that LSU comes into their annual game against the Gators unranked, and it’s the first time since 1989 that both teams will be unranked.
