LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings has decided to transfer from the school.

Coach Les Miles announced the decision on Thursday. The rising senior is expected to remain with the school through the summer to graduate before leaving.

That would make Jennings immediately eligible to play for any school, FBS or otherwise, in his final year of eligibility.

Here’s what Miles had to say about Jennings.

“Anthony did a lot of really good things for our program,” Miles said. “As a freshman, he came in for an injured Zach Mettenberger and led us to a last-minute win over Arkansas and then he helped us to eight wins the following year as a sophomore.

“This is an opportunity for Anthony to put himself in a position to help another team have success. We wish him nothing but good fortune in the future and we appreciate all that he did while he was part of our program.”

Jennings went 9-4 as a starter in Baton Rouge. In his three years at LSU, he completed 48.4 percent of his passes for 1,792 yards, 12 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
