An LSU running back is reportedly facing 3 felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder, according to a report from ESPN.

Pete Thamel is reporting that Sheriff Dusty Gates of the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office in Farmerville, Louisiana, said that LSU running back Trey Holly has been taken into custody on charges that also include aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon. Farmerville is Holly’s hometown.

This is reportedly related to a shooting on Feb. 9. Holly turned himself in on Thursday, Thamel reported Gates saying, and Holly is being held on a $512,000 bond.

Holly is “suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies” after his arrest, LSU said in a statement, per The Advocate.

Holly saw limited action as a freshman during the 2023 season. He appeared in 3 games and carried the ball 11 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Most of that production came against Army, when he had 6 carries for 91 yards and a score.

Holly came out of high school as one of the most accomplished running backs in Louisiana high school history. He was a 5-year starter at running back at Union Parish High School, and broke the state’s all-time rushing record (all divisions) with 10,523 yards during his high school career.
