LSU is reportedly looking to make a late hire of a defensive line coach from an SEC program, and it could be wrapped up by this weekend, according to FootballScoop.

LSU is targeting South Carolina defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, and the 2 sides could reach agreement very soon. This would be the second staff move by Brian Kelly this offseason after he moved special teams coordinator Brian Polian into an off-field role commonly described as a general manager. Jamar Cain at LSU is currently listed as run game coordinator and defensive line coach.

Lindsey has coached the Gamecocks’ defensive line since 2021, after previously coached at Illinois. The former Chattanooga player and coach also has a number of non-Power 5 stops on his career arc.

Lindsey came to Illinois after 3 seasons at Western Kentucky where he worked with Gamecock defensive coordinator Clayton White. Lindsey was the Hilltoppers’ defensive line coach in 2017, before he coached the defensive ends and serving as the recruiting coordinator in 2018 and 2019.
