LSU is reportedly losing a key member of its defensive coaching staff to an on-field role at Tulane.

According to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, senior defensive analyst Gerald Chatman is expected to leave Baton Rouge to take the defensive line coach job at Tulane ahead of the 2023 season.

Chatman served as the Tigers’ interim DL coach this offseason before LSU hired Jimmy Lindsey to replace Jamar Cain, who left for an NFL position:

Chatman had previously worked on Ed Orgeron’s coaching staff at LSU in 2021. He then left for Colorado for the 2022 season before returning to Baton Rouge.

Now it seems he’s heading to New Orleans to serve as an on-field assistant for the Green Wave. We’ll see if Kelly decides to replace Chatman’s position on the analyst staff.
