Brian Kelly continues to reshuffle his coaching staff at LSU, and the latest move is parting ways with John Jancek, LSU’s defensive line coach last season.

Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reported that Jancek is no longer on staff. Jancek was retained when Kelly fired 4 defensive coaches last month, but he did not have a clear role going forward. Jancek’s role changed in the fall when defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey was away from the team dealing with a health issue.

Jancek worked with Kelly at multiple stops. At LSU, he was elevated to special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach in the spring of 2023 after he served as senior defensive analyst for the Tigers in 2022.

Jancek initially joined Kelly’s staff at LSU in 2022 as senior defensive analyst, and has over 3 decades of college football coaching experience. He’s also been part of Kelly’s coaching staffs at Grand Valley State and Central Michigan.

Jancek has plenty of experience in the SEC, from roles as a consultant to defensive coordinator at 3 programs before LSU.
