Brian Kelly said last week that LSU had decided on its starting quarterback, and now a report has emerged that it’s, in fact, Jayden Daniels.
Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports reported the news after Daniels has long been reported to be in the lead, and this confirms what reports out of fall camp have suggested that he won the competition with Garrett Nussmeier after Myles Brennan stepped away from football. The Tigers will meet Florida State in New Orleans on Sunday night on ABC. The Tigers are listed as 4-point favorites.
Daniels, a transfer from Arizona State, has been competing with Nussmeier for the Tigers’ starting QB job. And while Kelly revealed at his press conference early in the week that a decision was made, he didn’t reveal it because what he referred to as a “tactical advantage.”
Daniels, who was a three-year starter for Arizona State, collected more than 3,000 combined offensive yards, with 16 total touchdowns for the Sun Devils last season.
