The decision has finally been made down in Baton Rouge.

After declining to name his starting quarterback during his Monday media availability — Ed Orgeron noted he owed it to his team to tell them first; explaining that he did inform his quarterbacks which one of them he planned to start — LSU announced that Coach O has named Joe Burrow starting quarterback for the Tigers for season opener against Miami on Sunday, Sept. 2 from Arlington.

This weekend will be the first start of Burrow’s college career, as all of his experience came off the bench for the Buckeyes during his career in Columbus.

Burrow beat out sophomore Myles Brennan for the job. The two quarterbacks also competed with Lowell Narcisse and Justin McMillan during training camp but both players left the program after realizing they would not earn the starting QB position in Baton Rouge heading into the season.

Burrow has appeared in 10 games during his collegiate career, completing 74 percent of his passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns without an interception playing in a limited role for the Buckeyes. While he was not often given the opportunity to throw during regular season games, Burrow has certainly looked the part in Ohio State’s most recent spring game.
