Malik Nabers had a day that very few players have ever had at LSU on Saturday. He finished with 13 catches for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 41-14 win against Mississippi State.

He was especially dominant in the first half, when he had 10 catches for 188 yards and both of those touchdowns.

Those types of numbers don’t get put up often, and it is only the 3rd time in the last 20 years that an LSU receiver has had at least 175 yards and 2 touchdowns in a half. The other 2 are Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. If you’re in a category with those 2 current NFL superstars, you did something right.

The 239 receiving yards by Nabers are the second most by an LSU wide receiver in the last 22 years. The only player with more was Kayshon Boutte, who had 308 yards against Ole Miss in 2020.

His previous career-high was 163 yards, and that was against Purdue last year in the bowl game. This was the 5th game in his career with at least 128 yards and the first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Naber and his teammates will look to continue the offensive explosion as they host the Arkansas Razorbacks next Saturday.
