There are many reasons LSU won the college football National Championship in 2019. Chief among them was quarterback Joe Burrow and an offensive that featured both Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. All three players are now superstars at the NFL level, which goes to show you just how good that LSU offense was in 2019.

Former head coach Ed Orgeron could probably take some credit for the win. Though his most recent memory at LSU is of being shown the door (and a huge bag of cash), he was the person who put that team together and led it to a perfect 15-0 season.

Oh, and there was also that defense that boasted the likes of Derek Stingley Jr., K’Lavon Chaisson, Grant Delpit, and Patrick Queen, amongst others. It was a defensive unit that held No. 4 Oklahoma to 28 points in the CFP semi-final and No. 3 Clemson to 25 in the CFP final.

All of those people and more are reasons LSU won that title in 2019. Except we’re apparently missing one person: the guy who just broke into Tiger Stadium. He, per his own admission, was the real reason LSU won the championship.

College football in the south, folks. There’s nothing like it.
