Matt McMahon is taking over an LSU program in turmoil after the firing of Will Wade.

McMahon will basically have to rebuild the Tigers’ roster from scratch, and might have to do so with NCAA sanctions stemming from Wade’s tenure.

So, hiring a strong coaching staff will be important. Per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, McMahon is bringing over former Murray State assistant Casey Long to join him in Baton Rouge:

Long spent 5 years at Murray State under McMahon. Interestingly, prior to his stop with the Racers, he worked at VCU under then-head coach Will Wade.

He has also worked as an assistant at Chattanooga, his alma mater.
