Members of Tyrann Mathieu's family accuse him of threats at as extortion case grows stranger
On Tuesday, news broke that a member of former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu’s family had been arrested for trying to extort $1.5 million from the Kansas City Chiefs safety.
On Wednesday, a bond hearing was held for Geourvon Sears, and in it, some of his family members made some wild claims against Mathieu.
Per WDSU reporter Travers Mackel, who was at the hearing, Geourvon’s brother claimed Mathieu put a hit on him:
George Sears now testifying … brother of Geourvon.
He claims, in open court, that @Mathieu_Era ‘put a hit on Geourvon’ … George claims he also received threats from Tyrann Mathieu. @wdsu @kmbc— Travers Mackel (@TraversWDSU) May 22, 2019
Sears’ mom also had some claims to make against the star athlete, saying Mathieu sent threatening texts:
Robertson now reading a message she claims that @Mathieu_Era sent her. In it she claims he threatens her and her kids. @wdsu @kmbc

There was also a statement made that Mathieu drove by the Sears’ house over the weekend, but a federal agent said that wasn’t true:
Agent: Says @Mathieu_Era never drove past Sears house while he was in #NOLA last weekend. @wdsu @kmbc

Sears’ bond was not lowered, so he was taken to jail. Mathieu’s attorney released a statement calling the Sears family’s testimony slanderous:

This is a bizarre case that just seems to be getting messier by the day.
