If you were unaware, Vice President Mike Pence recently made a visit to Baton Rouge to discuss the reopening of some Louisiana schools in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ed Orgeron also attended the event and wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to express the level of importance football plays to the lives of the average American.

“We need to play. This state needs it. This country needs it,” Orgeron said to the Vice President according to ESPN.

The fact that LSU’s football program had a surge in positive COVID-19 cases a few weeks back but has found a way to minimize the spread of the virus has been encouraging to Orgeron.

“I don’t think we can take this away from our players, take this away from our state and our country,” Orgeron added during the event. “We need football. Football is the lifeblood of our country.”

You can say that again.
