Good news for LSU’s depth on the defensive line as sophomore Nelson Jenkins is committed to staying in Baton Rouge.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman was reportedly considering an opt-out, as reported by 247Sports, and LSU head coach Ed Orgeron didn’t do much to quiet that speculation during his Tuesday media availability when asked about the sophomore lineman.

“With Nelson Jenkins, as far as I know, he told us he was opting out,” Orgeron said. “He is not with the football team right now and that’s all I know. I haven’t had contact with Nelson in at least two weeks.”

A day following Orgeron’s comment, Nelson issued this comment.

“I will be staying at LSU! I have a goal to achieve and a chip on my shoulder😤!! In Only God I trust,” Nelson shared on Wednesday.

Nelson confirmed to SDS that he his plan is to opt-out for this season with the intention of returning in 2021.
