The Cincinnati Bengals used the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on former LSU QB (and 2019 Heisman Trophy winner) Joe Burrow.

Now, Burrow has the keys to the Bengals’ offense, as the team parted ways with former starter Andy Dalton this offseason.

Can Burrow win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season? NFL analyst (and former QB) Chris Simms said on Pro Football Talk Live that he’s picking Burrow (via 247Sports):

“There’s gonna be some competition between the receivers, some of the running backs,” Simms said. “Clyde Edwards-Helaire in Kansas City. I would have a hard time thinking he’s not going to put up huge numbers because of everybody being worried about Tyreek Hill and Patrick Mahomes and company. But Joe Burrow is still the leader in the clubhouse for me. If you make me pick who’s going to be rookie of the year, I’m picking Joe Burrow. One, they’ve got a coaching staff that knows how to utilize his type of skillset. I do think they’ve surrounded him with enough talent. And the offensive line, last year, first-round pick. They’ve got a running game.”

It won’t be easy to turn the Bengals into a playoff contender this fall, but we’ve seen Burrow shine in Baton Rouge.

We’ll find out soon enough if that talent translates to the NFL.
