With a purple bow tie, blue chip offensive lineman Marcus Dumervil announced that he would sign with LSU in an announcement that was aired on ESPN2.

Dumervil, the nephew of Elvis Dumervil, who played at Louisville, had finalists of Louisville, Florida and Oklahoma. His cousin is Louisville defensive lineman Dejmi Dumervil Jean.

Dumervil is a 4-star 6-foot-5, 305-pound prospect out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and said he chose LSU for the opportunity to play for a national championship.

“Just the culture, being a part of a staff with that type of pedigree and Coach O … really is an honor to play for those guys, just can’t wait,” he said. “… And help win the next national championship.”

It was believed that Dumervil was an LSU lean after the Tigers held all the 247Sports Crystal Ball picks for Dumervil to commit to them and sign with the program. According to the 247Sports Composite, Dumervil ranks as the No. 97 overall offensive tackle in the country, No. 11 offensive tackle nationally and No. 17 overall prospect in Florida.
