Paul Finebaum eviscerates Brian Kelly for LSU's latest season-opening loss
Paul Finebaum is never one to hide his opinion, and he let his be known about LSU coach Brian Kelly on Monday morning via ESPN’s ‘Get Up.’
The first game of the season has not been a good thing for LSU recently, as the Tigers have now lost 5 consecutive season openers after losing 27-20 to USC on Sunday night. Three of those losses have been under Kelly with the first 2 coming to Florida State.
Kelly showed his frustration after the most recent loss as he hit the table in his press conference. Finebaum wants to know where that kind of passion was during the game.
“It’s on [Brian Kelly]. And, don’t give me this ‘I need to do a better job coaching.’ You’re paid 11 million dollars to coach into the game and throughout the game. Not acting after the game.”

“It’s on Brian Kelly,” Finebaum said about the LSU loss. “And don’t give me this ‘I need to do a better job coaching.’ You’re paid $11 million to coach into the game and through it. Not acting after the game.”
LSU has not won a season opener since Joe Burrow led LSU Tigers to the national title in the 2019 season.
The Tigers will be back in action next Saturday as they host Nichols. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Finebaum is talking truth. It is obvious to the objective eye. LSU’s hiring of Brian Kelly, who never won any real championships at Notre Dame, will go down with Texas Aggies hiring of Jimbo Fisher and the Gator Lizards’ hire of the “I don’t have a clue” Napier. LSU should have known when Kelly utterly failed in misappropriating a southern accent at LSU’s coming out party. He has been a total disaster who is all talk, no action. All hat no cattle. LSU has a great football history and fan base. They deserve better than this hundred million dollar loser.
Agreed. And why the HE LL did he not take the 3 points at the beginning of the game, take the lead, in a close game? Dumb. Blew all the momentum of the drive.
He could have just said no Heisman, no line, no defense, no recruits, no chance as I have been saying all Winter, Spring and Summer.
Some people have to make it so hard.
Isn’t it interesting that Kelly will take LSU down to the abyss…
Lol!
Go Vols!

Another reason LSU lost: USC is a better team… but anti California bigot Finebaum can’t admit this
Let’s see: USC outscored LSU 14-3 and outgained LSU 173-61 in the 4th quarter. I’d say USC dominated the line of scrimmage and physically whopped LSU when it mattered. End of story.
Issues to consider –
1. The LSU football program struggles in the SEC. It seems like the LSU football program is not an SEC quality team and would be more competitive in a Group of 5 conference or possibly by dropping to a lower division like division. As a Georgia fan wrote a few days ago, the LSU football program “is an embarrassment to the SEC”. Is it possible for the SEC to cut ties with LSU to improve the strength of the conference?
2. The BIG10 is now the largest, wealthiest, and strongest college football conference. For the SEC to keep up with the BIG10 the SEC needs to consider pulling in teams like Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, and possibly Florida State. These teams would add substantial strength to the SEC. At the same time some teams could be removed from the SEC such as LSU and Vanderbilt, and possibly South Carolina. These teams do not strengthen the SEC and reduce the ability of the SEC to compete with the BIG10.
