Peter Burns has long been one of the faces of the SEC Network.

Burns, as many know, as an LSU fan, and part appeal is that he’s never been afraid to discuss issues in his personal life, such as his adoption and the birth of his children, recounting that his oldest daughter’s birth was the first time he’d met someone he was related to by blood.

On Monday, Burns was at the Little Rock Touchdown Club on Monday and talked about his relationship with his adoptive father—a cancer survivor—and how the 2 of them play golf together twice a week.

“Since the pandemic, I’m a huge golfer, and I take Tuesdays and Thursdays off my Sirius XM show to play golf with my dad, my best friend,” he said, his voice slightly quivering with emotion.

He then recounted texting his father that he wouldn’t be able to golf with him on Tuesday due to the event in Little Rock.

“He goes, ‘People want to hear you speak?'” he said, to laughter from the crowd.

Burns also discussed growing up a Tigers fan and sharing experiences with his father at games.

“My father was a cancer survivor, so he didn’t graduate college at LSU until I was around 8 years old. So I grew up going to every single sporting event…in the student section. So that’s why I became such an LSU fan. That’s why I curse and drink extremely well,” he joked.
