As we all know, September 11, 2001 will forever go down as a dark day in the history of the United States.
This catastrophic attack led to the passing of nearly 3,000 people, and completely shook up New York City (to put it lightly).
This upcoming Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the atrocity. It also happens to fall on the first Sunday of the 2016 NFL season. Playing for the New York Giants, former LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and his teammate Victor Cruz are planning on wearing cleats in honor of the New York City Fire Department, the fallen towers, the American flag, and of the United States itself.

While this is a fashion statement of sorts, the meaning behind the symbols on the shoes run infinitely deeper.
