LSU has lost a lot of key players to injuries this season.

But the Tigers still have Ty Davis-Price and he made the difference in a 49-42 upset of No. 20 Florida on Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium.

Davis-Price broke LSU’s single-game rushing record a career-high 287 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns as LSU (4-3, 2-2) ended a 2-game SEC losing streak.

Max Johnson threw 3 touchdown passes to Jaray Jenkins, including a tie-breaker on 4th-and-goal from the 1 with 3:30 left.

Anthony Richardson replaced Emory Jones in the 3rd quarter and led Florida to touchdowns on 3 consecutive possessions to pull the Gators even at 35 at the end of the period.

But (4-3, 2-3) Florida never could slow down Davis-Price.

Florida went into halftime with a boost after connecting on a Hail Mary touchdown with no time on the clock to pull within 21-13.

But on the third play of the third quarter, Dwight McGlothern, 1 of 3 LSU defensive backs who failed to break up the Hail Mary, intercepted Jones and ran 37 yards for a touchdown.

Richardson, who threw an interception during a cameo appearance in the first half, replaced Jones on the ensuing possession and ran 5 yards for a touchdown an for a two-point conversion that pulled the Gators within 28-21.

Davis-Price ran 40 yards for a Tigers touchdown on the ensuing possession and on the possession after that Richardson threw a 5-yard touchdown to Justin Shorter, cutting LSU’s lead to 35-28.

Richardson made it 3 Florida touchdowns in 3 possessions when he threw an 11-yard touchdown to Dameon Pierce to tie the score at 35.

Davis-Price ran 25 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the fourth quarter to give LSU a 42-35 lead.

Richardson left the game briefly because of a cut finger, but returned to throw a 33-yard touchdown to Jacob Copeland to tie the score with 9:14 left.

LSU was missing several injured key players, including star cornerbacks Derek Stingley Jr. and Eli Ricks as well as wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, who was tied for the NCAA lead with 9 touchdown receptions.

But teammates picked up the slack and triggered a 21-0 second-quarter blitz by the Tigers after Pierce’s 7-yard touchdown run gave the Gators a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

LSU put together a 90-yard drive and took a 7-6 lead on Ty Davis-Price’s 18-yard touchdown run.

Micah Baskerville intercepted Emory Jones and returned 54 yards to the Florida 28. On the next play Max Johnson threw a touchdown pass to Jaray Jenkins for a 14-6 lead.

On the ensuing possession the Gators changed quarterbacks and the Tigers changed interceptors.

Jay Ward picked off Richardson and returned 26 yards to the Florida 21. Four plays later Johnson found Jenkins for a 5-yard touchdown pass for a 21-6 lead.

LSU was in position to take that advantage into halftime after Florida took over after a punt return at its 23 with 29 seconds left.

But Jones moved the Gators across midfield and launched a Hail Mary pass to the end zone as time expired. Shorter came down with a 42-yard touchdown catch amid 3 Tigers defenders, pulling Florida within 21-13 at halftime.
