Reaction to Joe Burrow's serious injury pours in from across college football, NFL
Players and programs across college football and the NFL had immediate reaction to the news that former LSU star and Cincinnati Bengals rookie QB Joe Burrow suffered a serious injury to his left leg on Sunday against the Washington Football Team.
The long list of players who tweeted support included several of Burrow’s teammates from LSU.
Burrow was in immediate pain to his left leg, and was carted off the field. It happened early in the third quarter with the Bengals holding a 9-7 lead, and with the ball at the 9-yard line on third down. His long pass fell incomplete.
Burrow did not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped onto a cart and and driven off the field after the play. Washington’s Jonathan Allen hit Burrow after he let go of a pass early in the third quarter.
Burrow had completed 22 of 34 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown before the injury.
In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the play where he was injured.
Looks like Burrow got caught between two rushers. Allen came in from his left and hit his legs while Sweat came off the right and hit higher. Burrow’s left knee took the force of the hit. pic.twitter.com/Sl3X3uAQah
