Leonard Fournette is out for LSU’s game against Southern Miss, but according to the SEC Network’s Alex Corddry he’ll be back to play against the other team from Mississippi.

Fournette aggravated a sprained ankle injury in LSU’s 18-13 loss at Auburn on Sept. 24. He missed the Mizzou game on Oct. 1, was not expected to play against Florida when the game was scheduled for Oct. 8 and was again ruled out for Saturday.

Corddry’s report indicates that Fournette is doing better in recent days. Saturday Down South’s Gary Laney noted earlier in the week that Orgeron was unable to offer a timetable for the elite ball-carrier’s return:

Not only does Orgeron no longer come out proclaiming he expects Fournette to be ready soon, he threw this out for a timeline.

“At some point this season” was the best Orgeron could come up with.
