Former LSU commit Da’Monte Coxie will enroll at Memphis, according to Jimmy Smith of NOLA.com. The wide receiver was a long-time LSU commitment, but became a late qualifier due to an academic situation.

LSU hoped Coxie would have everything prepared before the end of his senior year, but several of his classes carried over into the summer, which left him with few options.

Multiple programs — including Alabama — expressed interest in the three-star wide receiver after National Signing Day, but Memphis extended an offer.

“I am feeling a sense of relief,” Coxie said. “I’m ready to ball and that is about it.”

Coxie will be an academic redshirt in 2016. The New Orleans native ranked as the No. 27 player from Louisiana, the No. 94 wide receiver and No. 584 overall prospect for the 2016 national signing class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
