Former LSU QB Danny Etling’s NFL career has hit a crossroads.

Etling reportedly received news from the Seattle Seahawks that he would be released, according ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He could return to their practice squad as he tries to extend an NFL career that previously included stops with the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots.

Etling was with the Patriots a year ago, after the former seventh-round pick out of LSU in 2018 was on the practice squad the previous season. After the Patriots drafted Jarrett Stidham in April, Etling tried to convert to wide receiver, but he could not make it stick.

The Falcons claimed Etling off of waivers for the final two preseason games of the 2019 season.

He was 17-of-31 in the preseason for 193 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed the ball 17 times for 115 yards.

Last month, the Seattle Seahawks claimed Etling off waivers from Atlanta, where he remained throughout the 2019 season and throughout the offseason, before he was let go in mid-August.

Etling joined the Seattle quarterback group which featured Russell Wilson, Geno Smith, and Anthony Gordon as quarterbacks on the Seahawks’ roster.

Seattle is scheduled to play Etling’s former team in the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
