Disturbing news out of Baton Rouge as true freshman linebacker Jacob Phillips is reportedly involved in a rape investigation.

According to TMZ Sports, Phillips has been accused of raping a female LSU student. TMZ reports that Phillips has not been arrested or charged at this time. The freshman linebacker has denied the charges, per the report.

The alleged incident reportedly took place back on June 11. Following the incident, the accuser went to the hospital where she was examined and a rape kit was administered. Phillips was not one of LSU’s early enrollees, he arrived on campus June 5.

Phillips was the nation’s No. 1 ILB prospect in the 2017 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports. The Tennesse native flipped his commitment from Oklahoma to LSU leading up to National Signing Day. That decision caused quite the stir in the recruiting world and even led to some close to the OU program making accusations that LSU paid for Phillips’ commitment.
