Last year, former LSU DB Tyrann Mathieu signed a one-year, $7 million contract to join the Houston Texans.

That gamble he took on himself paid off big-time, as he has now landed a new contract from a team that was on the verge of the Super Bowl in 2018.

Per a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Honey Badger is getting a three-year, $42 million contract from the Kansas City Chiefs:

Mathieu will join a safety group that is led by former Tennessee star Eric Berry, giving the Chiefs a fearsome tandem on the back end of their defense.

In his one year with the Texans, Mathieu had 89 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions.
