By now you likely heard that the NCAA has announced the cancelation of all winter and spring sports championship seasons, but based on the comments from many in the SEC, the NCAA did not inform any of the conferences prior to making that decision.

If you missed it, Paul Finebaum really ripped into the NCAA following their handling of the situation.

Many in the SEC had even left the door open for baseball and softball to potentially compete for a league championship this season, even if no NCAA season or College World Series would be held.

Unfortunately, however, that won’t be the case in the SEC.

According to LSU AD Scott Woodward, the SEC plans on announcing the cancelation of the baseball and softball season at any time now.

Here was Woodward’s response on Monday when asked if there was any possibility that the SEC baseball season could still be played.

“You can rest assured it will be canceled. They’ll have an announcement probably (Tuesday),” Woodward answered during his Monday teleconference.

The hits just keep coming for sports fans with the latest casualty being the hopes of baseball and softball fans that were cautiously optimistic that a season would be played in the coming months.
