A 10-win season for LSU in Ed Orgeron’s first year?

The Tigers would take that in a heartbeat.

Emotions are riding high for LSU entering 2017. Matt Canada was brought in to jumpstart the offense, while Dave Aranda returns with his devastating defense. Orgeron, of course, is ultimately responsible for it all.

SEC Network analysts Gene Chizik and Jordan Rodgers predicted the Tigers’ win-loss record Thursday night on the SEC Network, and their predictions were almost alike, separated by one game.

The former Auburn coach, Chizik, said LSU would enter the Alabama game 8-0, beating Florida and Auburn. Chizik said the Tigers would then lose to Alabama and have a letdown game the very next week against a physical Arkansas team to finish with 10 wins.

Rodgers, like Chizik, has the Tigers winning 10 games, but he thinks LSU loses to Auburn and Alabama. Rodgers thinks the LSU-Auburn game will be Jarrett Stidham’s coming out party en route to a being a Heisman Trophy finalist.

With seemingly all the pieces in place to make a championship run, the QB spot remains somewhat of a question mark. Yes, Danny Etling is a weathered veteran and can make several throws, but can he make big plays against teams like Alabama, Florida and Auburn when the running game could be held in check? While freshman QB Myles Brennan is the future, LSU enters another season with another question at the position.

Still, drawing Tennessee in addition to Florida in the SEC East is no slouch.
