Mizzou has long claimed to be one of the first schools to come up with the concept of Homecoming.

So it is fitting that LSU revealed on Tuesday that it plans for its 2016 Homecoming to coincide with Mizzou’s first ever visit to Tiger Stadium.

Apparently, the SEC’s Cajun version of the Tigers want to show the inventors how they do Homecoming in Louisiana.

The game, which is just the second meeting between the schools in football, is set to take place on Oct. 1.

LSU also announced that the Gold Game will be Sept. 17’s tilt with Mississippi State, and that LSU Salutes will take place the week of Nov. 5’s meeting with Alabama.
