Tom Herman's response to LSU reports Friday morning
Here’s a shocker: Tom Herman has refuted reports that he’s a day away from accepting the vacant head coach position with LSU.
Coach speak runs rampant during this time of the year.
Last night Chip Brown of Horn’s Digest reportedĀ LSU was closing in on a deal with HermanĀ and that it would come into fruition as early as Saturday, though it was contingent on what kind of decision was made between Texas and Charlie Strong.
Herman wants the public to know that loose lips sink ships.
Spoke to Tom Herman pregame in Memphis concerning reports of other coaching vacancies…
"Honestly, don't believe anything you read"

I asked Houston Head Coach Tom Herman pregame on @SportsCenter
Can you confirm those reports are false?
"Absolutely"

Herman will lead Houston for perhaps the final time this afternoon against Memphis, where the Cougars are hoping to improve to 10-2 on the season. A win would give the 41-year-old coach a 23-3 record in his two seasons as coach.
From there, the college football world will set its eyes on Texas-TCU — a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The result could ultimately decide the outcome of several Power 5 coaching moves.
LSU must have paid him to not say anything. If Texas loses today you got wonder if they will make a last ditch effort for Herman.
LSU never reported they were “closing a deal” with Herman. It was a longhorn column that announced this. I believe LSU knows who the next coach is going to be already, but as Herman said, don’t believe everything you read.
Chip Brown was the author of the initial rumors. He of the “Nick Sabin has signed to be the next Texas Head Coach” stories.
Not sure Herman is the answer, I was actually glad he didn’t come to SC. This guy is all hype at this point. If you look at his coaching record, he was an o coordinator under Urban Meyer, then took over an 8-5 Houston team in a cup cake conference. Not exactly the most difficult rise to the top. Yes, he is successful but is he really ready to be an SEC coach, especially at a place like LSU? I could be wrong, but it just seems like a huge gamble. It would make more sense to give coach O a short term deal and give Aranda what he wants to stay instead of overpaying for a guy who may or may not work out. Besides Herman is more than likely playing LSU to either get a raise at Houston or to get the Texas job.
Herman is the only coach this year that has beaten 2 top 5 teams.
Herman also coached two dud gameplans against Navy (a good football team) and SMU (LOL)
Exactly. This guy is now hyped to mythical proportions, someone is going to over pay for this guy, again I could be wrong but the return on investment ratio is not good with this guy.
I think Herman will come to LSU, despite all the rumors floating around. I don’t know that he’s the best fit, but Alleva has to make a big hire and pray it works or he will lose his job next.
Add Memphis to that list.
True, but it was Oklahoma and Louisville, not exactly Alabama.
A&M went after and got the hot Houston coach 5 years ago. Look how that has turned out.
Seems more and more like that Texas writer is just trying to stir $hit up.
